Friendswood Development Company Expands Portfolio to Include Four New Communities in Baytown

Friendswood Development Company, which is best known for developing some of Houston’s signature master-planned communities including Fairfield and Clear Lake City, has established a foothold in Baytown, TX with the construction of a new master planned community, Baytown Crossings. Baytown Crossings consists of four new residential neighborhoods. The first, Ashbel Cove, is jointly owned and developed with Beazer Homes and scheduled for a grand opening in early 2020. It will include 107 acres and approximately 300 single-family homesites at completion. Lennar, which serves as the parent company to Friendswood Development, will offer their Brookstone and Wildflower collections while Beazer Homes will offer their Landmark and Heritage collections. New homes are expected to start in the low $200s.

Ashbel Cove, which was named after a Texas Revolutionary War-era settler Ashbel Smith, will be located along Garth Road, with excellent access to I-10 and I-90. Families who buy in the community will be zoned to Goose Creek CISD schools for K-12 education. Friendswood Development Company is currently collaborating with GCCISD on a future on-site elementary school planned for opening in Fall 2022.

The amenity package for Ashbel Cove will include a park and playground, trail system, green spaces, and man-made lakes with fountains.

“We are excited to bring the first two of four neighborhoods within Baytown Crossings to market in 2020,” said Michael Johnson, VP of Land for Friendswood Development Company. “With continued growth in the petrochemical industry and nearby Port of Houston and Ship Channel, there is pent up demand for quality housing in Baytown, and we look forward to creating an exceptional residential experience for prospective homebuyers in Baytown Crossings,” he continued.

The second community planned for Baytown Crossings in the first quarter of 2020 will be Wooster Trails; subsequent plans are in place for Sterling Point and Burnett Fields. More information about these communities and Ashbel Cove can be found here.
